Secure the Google Chrome Web browser using Group Policy

I came across a very well thought out eBook that explains how to lock down Google Chrome using group policy.

If you want to deploy Google Chrome, but are missing the control you had with IE…you will want to give it a read.

It was written by an organization you may have heard about in the news recently…the NSA 🙂

You can white list / black list extensions, configure firewall settings, and lock down just about any part of Chrome – making it an Enterprise friendly browser.

PS: For those of you asking, we will have Beta 2 for Enterprise Remote Control next week.

Thanks for the PDF Steve. This is a great help as more and more people here at my office are using Chrome. This helps me lock it down a bit.

Hi Steve,

Anything for FireFox? That is what I really need 🙂

Hi David,

Unfortunately Firefox does not do this out of the box. To use group policy with it you need an add-on or plugin.

we use secure lockdown for chrome to lock down Windows and chrome. it’s easier and more robust than using just group policy

Hi Arthur,

I was not aware of secure lockdown. I will have to take a look…
