While researching for an earlier article, I came across a free utility from http://www.joeware.net
It is called OldComp, and you can find it here
It runs through active directory and finds old accounts.
It is simple to use, and powerful, so careful what you do…because you could delete all your accounts if you are not careful.
You can start out by getting a report of old accounts.
With this command, you can get all computer accounts that have not been updated in more than a year
OldCmp.exe /report -age 365
OldCmp V01.05.00cpp Joe Richards (joe@joeware.net) December 2004

Command completed successfully
C:\Temp>oldcmp.20101008-143145.htm
It creates a report you can view in your web browser. Nice
Once you are sure it has the list of accounts you no longer need…you can disable them:
OldCmp.exe /disable -age 365
Or if you want them gone, you can delete them
OldCmp.exe /delete -age 365
As an added safety feature, the program will not delete an account unless it is disabled.
Also, by default it works on computer accounts…if you want it to work on user accounts, simply use the -users option.
It is a nice tool. Best of all it is free. Check it out when you have a chance.
